Limerick City of Culture is set to get pan-European promotion after a leading international logistics company based locally has wrapped a new articulated lorry with images promoting the year-long celebration.
STL Logistics has become the latest City of Culture ambassador with a generous gesture of branding the new FH12 Volvo and its 45ft trailer with cultural images for the remainder of the year.
The images on the globe-trotter cab and trailer are a representation of some of Limerick’s best known cultural sites and scenes, from the famous celebrations at the Gaelic Grounds last year for Limerick’s Munster Final victory to King John’s Castle, the Treaty Stone, St. Mary’s Cathedral and Thomond Park.
The collage of images are designed by the Limerick based Newtone Group and will be carried an estimated 2,500km weekly through some of the largest cities in the UK and Europe as the articulated trailer carries products such as bio-pharmaceuticals, baby food and agri sector products internationally. It will also be prominent on Irish roads and motorways as it makes its way to ports for sailings.
The energy saving, fuel efficient vehicle’s maiden voyage is on Monday next when the unit departs from STL Logistic’s Annacotty Business Park headquarters for the UK, where it is scheduled to visit Birmingham, London and Liverpool in its first week alone.
